At the age of 69, I decided I wanted to learn to play guitar. From a poster I found on Sorauren Avenue I got in touch with Evan Desaulnier. I’ve had 7 lessons so far and I found him to be an excellent teacher. First things first, I’ve never felt that my age was an impediment from him although in my own mind it’s a constant. Just his innate belief that I can learn to play gives me the courage I need.

Both of my boys (ages 12 and 14) have been taking lessons from Evan for over 2 years. He has helped develop their passion for music. Evan’s attentiveness and patience to my children’s learning experience has gone a long way with keeping them engaged and committed to learning.

I started taking lessons with Evan a about a year and a half ago – he’s awesome. Really good guy and phenomenal guitar player. As a self-taught player I was intimidated at first, but Evan broke things down in a way where I finally understood. He made chords I had avoided learning accessible. He doesn’t just teach you how to play, he teaches you how and why it all works the way it does. Not to mention he’s funny as hell. Definitely check him out.

Evan is one of the most friendly, patient and effective guitar teachers I’ve ever had. I came to him as a non-formally trained guitarist (no music theory or reading skills at all) who was interested in learning more about Jazz techniques and theory. Evan was quickly able to help me understand the Jazz-related fundamentals I wanted to learn in a way that was completely engaging, non-intimidating and fun, unlike a lot of other experiences I’ve had with guitar teachers in the past. I highly recommend Evan as one of the best guitar teachers in the city hands down.
